Topdocs delivers a comprehensive estate planning process that provides professional advisers with the documents, training, support and advice required to service their clients in the areas of estate planning and succession planning. Based on a model that supports the professional adviser from start to finish, our estate planning process ensures you have control of the client relationship at all times.

Using the Topdocs estate planning process, you are provided with the tools and ongoing support to include estate planning and succession planning in your service offering, so you can provide a more holistic service to your clients.

Alternatively, if preferred by you, we can directly deal with your clients to assist them with their estate planning or succession planning needs.

CLIENT MARKETING MATERIALS

To assist you to engage with your clients for their estate planning needs, we have developed a range of marketing materials that you can edit and rebrand to provide to your clients. These include:

  • A client letter, outlining why estate planning is important for them;
  • An estate planning overview brochure; and
  • A brief questionnaire designed to encourage the client to contact you regarding their estate planning needs.

TOPDOCS ESTATE PLANNING PROCESS

The Topdocs estate planning process fundamentally follows these key steps:

  • The professional adviser reviews their client’s circumstances to identify their estate planning and succession planning needs, and completes an initial Client Fact Find (Download our Client Fact Find or Login to our online Portal to complete one online).

  • The Client Fact Find is sent to Topdocs for review by a lawyer from Topdocs Legal, who contacts the professional adviser to discuss the options suitable for their client and the costs in the matter.

  • If the client is happy to proceed with the matter, an initial meeting is organised (in person at our office or by Skype) between the lawyer, the professional adviser and the client to further discuss the client’s requirements and the structure of the documentation required.

  • Following the initial meeting, the lawyer prepares drafts of the relevant documents such as Wills, powers of attorney and any business succession agreements, and forwards them to the professional adviser for their and their client’s review and approval.

  • If required, a further discussion with the professional adviser and/or the client (by telephone or Skype) is arranged following their review of the draft documents to discuss any amendments requested by the client.

  • Once the documents are approved, the execution copies of the documents are sent to the professional adviser’s office with step-by-step instructions regarding witnessing and execution of the documents. Alternatively, if clients are based locally, Topdocs Legal can arrange a further meeting with the professional adviser and the client at our office for execution of the documentation.

LEGAL REVIEW AND ASSURANCE

We understand that all legal estate planning documents carry legal risk. Topdocs mitigates that risk for you and your clients by having our documentation signed off by Topdocs Legal, an incorporated Legal Practice. In addition, the advice provided by Topdocs Legal is supplied as part of the service. We believe providing you with access to legal experts, whenever you need it, delivers a level of comfort and reassurance when ordering legal documentation.
