This webinar is an update to our December webinar and will include recent legislative changes that concern residential property acquisitions in SA.

It will also cover off on how you can have the 2017 land tax surcharge refunded for discretionary trusts that hold land in NSW.

Did you know that if your client’s discretionary trusts hold certain land in Victoria or New South Wales, or are looking to acquire certain residential land or property in Victoria, New South Wales, Queensland or South Australia, their trust may be subject to a land tax and/or a stamp duty surcharge?

This is due to the tax surcharges presently applicable to ‘foreign trusts’ and 'foreign persons'.

With each state differing in respect of these surcharges, it is important to know exactly where your clients stand.

Join Topdocs Legal’s special counsel, Michael Roberts, for a complementary webinar which will go through the land tax and stamp duty surcharges that apply to these jurisdictions, to determine which of your discretionary trusts may be liable for these additional taxes.

Then see how Topdocs can assist you to amend your trust deeds to exclude foreign persons as beneficiaries of the trust to reduce the risk of your clients being subject to the surcharges.
